Advanced workshops are intended for aspiring photographers wishing to take lighting a bit further. In advanced workshops we’ll begin adding additional strobes or other forms of light to our lighting scenarios in order to demystify the use of multiple-strobes, THE most feared area of photography – even to many professionals.
Gary is well known for advising photographers at all levels how to create interesting, multi-strobe light in a simple manner. A model will be provided and Gary will demonstrate – as you participate – how to transform the 30×40′ room we’ll be using as our studio into an appealing, interestingly lit space with a model as the focal point. Gary’s goal in this workshop is to teach you that using 2, 4 or 6 lights, etc, is no more difficult than using one light. Since our studio space has a full wall of West-facing windows, we will learn to integrate strobe with natural light as the light changes, over the course of the 3-hour event. Blackout curtains allow us to block the natural light to focus on strobe lighting along. Note: it is very common for Gary to balance strobe lighting with existing light, a technique you will learn in week 3.
